What a wonderful way to show the great things about our community!

I think photos are a marvellous way of cutting through endless verbiage and getting to the “gestalt” of a community. Photos can also lie (e.g. never show cloudy or rainy days) but in general, they give a more specific and complete sense of what is going on in a place and among people there, than words can show. This is especially true for one-of-a-kind image — there is no way to understand the Western Grebe, for example, without seeing its wonderfal plumage and astonishing mating “dance”, because there is nothing else like it in the world. Seen in still photos, it is captivating. Seeing it, as I just did, in Ed Dahl’s amazing video on YouTube, it is transcendentally moving.
