Initial Steps Towards a Sensible River Engineering Policy Still on Hold.

floodEllenAtkinIt looks and sounds like there won’t be any discussion or motion put forward this Monday at the council meeting on re-considering the funding of an updated floodplain risk study.

Perhaps look for this important item in the next August council session.

Again from what I’ve heard, the gist of the likely motion will be to reconsider funding of the study during the 2014 budget planning sessions this coming fall.

The key aspect to all of this is really a three-part clarification of the stances of the individual politicos imo.

(1) Which councillors don’t want the study at all?

(2) Which councillors want a longer time frame for this?

(2) Which councillors are reticent to specifically commit dollars for 2014?

The answer to those questions will ideally be forthcoming sooner than later. If not, perhaps I’ll request a specific clarification from each of the councillors for posting here on Aim High.
