Aboriginal Day in Salmon Arm June 21, 10a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

On June 21, next Saturday, is Aboriginal Day in Salmon Arm.

There will be the raising of the Shuswap Nation flag  at City Hall around 10 a.m.   The Ceremony will include Mayor Nancy  Cooper and council,  along with chief Nelson Leon  of the Adams Lake Band leading the Ceremony.

Between 10 a.m. & 2 p.m.  there will be the Ceremony, then fun and games as well as local Indigenous food.

Then you will be invited across Fletcher Park to First United Church.  At 2:00 p.m.  Ernie Philip, Dancing Bear of Little Shuswap Band, will present a Flag song; then  a high definition  video of Ernie’s life story will be shown.  This will be followed by comments from Ernie, and questions from the audience.

This Is a Great Opportunity for us to better understand, and respect our neighbours.
