Parsing Your Residential Property Tax Bill

It’s been a month now that city property taxes were due.

One overall fact that often gets lost in the mix – especially at that time of the year – is that a substantial part of the “bill” actually involves the city collecting taxes for others. For 2014, 36% of your tax bill involved collections for other bodies.

53% of the 2014 tax bill funded the city’s annual budget with another 11%funding utilities (water and waste) and transportation .
