Martin Winterkorn steps down as CEO of VW amidst their largest scandal since Adolf Hitler approved the original design in 1933 as “The Peoples Car”. It’s unclear how much Winterkorn knew about the installation of defeat devices that allowed their Diesel cars to pass environmental tests but it is just as problematic if he did not know. This deception could signal the slow decline of the diesel automotive industry as we know it.

  1. From the looks, other car makers are going to be affected too and once all the expected law suits start rolling in, it is going to be mayhem. A very serious financial blow – also to suppliers of parts, etc.
