I moved to Salmon Arm with my wife, Nancy Kolkind, to raise a family in a livable community. We have two daughters who attend(ed) neighbourhood public schools. In addition, we are actively involved in community sports, recreation, arts and schools.
Like many of you, we chose Salmon Arm because of its natural beauty, sense of community, vibrant arts scene and wide range of recreational opportunities. Nancy is originally from here and we also wanted to be closer to family.
I’m a retired public school educator who managed educational programs for youth and adults. My professional career has been characterized by implementing initiatives that make sense, managing resources in fiscally tight times and taking on the responsibility to make a difference.
My vision for Salmon Arm is a safe, sustainable and economically sound city where citizens are actively involved in the important issues. Nancy and I view our city like we view our neighbourhood. We listen to, learn from and look out for each other.
I’m also honoured to have been elected to Salmon Arm city council in the Nov 15 2014 local elections.
